Singapore: The clean-up of the oil spill resulting from the collision between the South Korean-registered bulk carrier, Oriental Pioneer, and the Bahamas-registered bulk carrier, Atlantic Hero continued today.

Nine craft have been deployed for surveillance, containment and recovery. As of 1700hrs, no significant patches of oil were sighted in the affected waters, according to Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority (MPA). However, some oil stains were found earlier today along the rock bunds and sandy shoreline near Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. The National Environment Agency is coordinating cleaning efforts along these affected areas.

Vessel traffic in the Strait of Singapore and port waters remain unaffected. Port operations are also not affected, the MPA added.
