Brief respite for truckers in Manila

Originally published: 15 December 2014

Manila: In a brief pullback, authorities in Manila have allowed trucks to resume trips down Roxas Boulevard, one of the capital’s main thoroughfares. However, the respite will only last a few days.

Truckers will be allowed to use the express lane on the busy thoroughfare for just five days and only during a five-hour window period which starts at midnight on Dercember 17.

A couple of weeks ago plans were announced to ban trucks on Roxas Boulevard, a key highway linking Manila’s box terminals, something that many felt would add to the capital’s already congested box terminal scene, brought around largely thanks to earlier trucking bans in Manila.
