Japan and Singapore collaborate on exhaust gas cleaning research

Singapore: Japanese companies, Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line), Monohakobi Technology Institute, and ClassNK are now cooperating with Singapore-based Nanyang Technological University and Sembcorp Marine Technology to research an exhaust gas cleaning system.

The research aims to control SOx emissions outside emission control areas to comply with emission control regulations after 2020 or 2025, and promote the development of new technologies for system installation on a variety of ship types.

This research project will be funded by a grant from the Singapore Maritime Institute. [18/12/14]
